School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

The school is participating in the statewide initiative aimed at developing a " Quality Academic and Social Education for All" program within the school.

The program is founded on the principles of creating settings where positive expectations are taught, reinforced, and understood by all involved.

The student behavior expectations are based on positive engagements rather than punitive consequences and replacing negative behavior with acceptable practices**.


  • At the beginning of each school year, the Positive Behavior Support system will be presented, explained, and modeled to all students at SRM.
  • Particular expectations of appropriate behavior will be taught and reinforced regularly during the course of the school year.
  • Students will be reminded often of how they should act and treat other fellow students and school staff based on the PAWS (Positive, Accountable, Winners, who are Safe) school philosophy.


  • Was developed from data based on all staff surveys reflecting most critical issues.
  • Is supported through lesson plans for each target area.
  • Is delivered and supported in the areas in which behavior are expected.

** For those students  who need a more intensively monitored behavior plan, Administration will refer to the APS Parent/Student handbook behavior matrix and apply consequences at their discretion.
