Field Trips

Field Trips are scheduled by teachers for instructional purposes directly related to APS curriculum guidelines.

Written permission is required when students are transported away from school. Permission forms are usually sent home 7 - 10 days prior to the scheduled trip. In the case of a forgotten permission slip the parent or legal guardian must sign a slip granting permission. Students who do not present a written permission form to their teacher will not be allowed to go on the field trip.

Since all trips have an important curricular purpose, they are never used as behavior consequences.

Telephone calls for permission are not accepted. Permission must be granted in writing on an APS Field Trip Permission Form by the parent or guardian only. Other written permission cannot be accepted.

Student's siblings are not allowed to attend their brother's/sister's filed trip. Parents who attend are there to chaperone the students and assist the teacher. Siblings may distract chaperones from this responsibility.

If a student is a behavior concern, the parent may be required to accompany that student on a field trip to assure his/her safety of others help monitor and manage that child on the trip.
