Parents who have concerns about their child's progress or well-being in school should first discuss issues with their child's teacher.

Most issues are resolved during this important step.

We do ask that parents refrain from addressing these issues with teachers during instructional time.

Please make time before and after school to talk with teachers regarding these issues.

Should there be continuing concerns, please contact the principal.

Bullying / Custody Issues

Bullying can never be completely eliminated in any school. We do however, take each report of bullying seriously, and investigate with all parties involved. We have incident reporting forms available to students and parents, in the office. Parents are encouraged to complete these forms if you fell your child is being bullied/harassed at school. Parents can also make a request with their child's teacher to send home the form via backpack mail.

When bullying occurs it will be dealt with immediately and parent will be notified. Many of the incidents we have at school involve normal conflict between students. where students are unable and/or unwilling to solve on their own.

To help you identify the difference between bullying and conflict, please refer the information below.

  • Imbalance of power - not friends
  • Repeated negative actions
  • Purposeful
  • Serious-threat of physical harm or emotional or psychological hurt
  • Strong emotional reaction on part of the target
  • Seeking power or control
  • Trying to gain material things or power
  • No remorse-blames target
  • No effort to solve problem
  • Equal power / friends
  • Happens occasionally
  • Accidentally
  • Not serious
  • Equal emotional reaction
  • Not seeking power or attention
  • Remorse-takes responsibility
  • Effort to solve the problem

Please, notify the office and your child teacher when issues regarding custody exist that may seriously impact your child.

We require parents with custody problems to provide legal paperwork that supports a parent's custody or access to a child. This paperwork is kept in a confidential file and is flagged on the child's computer enrollment.

When questions arise or a conduct occurs, the school will follow APS policy regarding custody (APS Behavior Handbook).

APS Police may be called for any situation where the safety or legal access to a child is in question. Every effort should be made by parents to keep custody away from school grounds.
